Explaining a 178-year-old technology giant in 98 seconds, by building the future city it powers
Siemens does a lot. Across Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure and Mobility, the company sits behind so much of modern life that most people never see it: the automation inside a factory, the intelligence inside a building, the signalling that keeps a rail network moving. That invisibility was the exact problem Siemens Malaysia needed to solve. How do you make an audience feel the full breadth of what you do, in Malaysia, in under two minutes, when almost none of it can be filmed?
Siemens Malaysia commissioned VISIOLAB to write, design and produce a corporate introductory explainer that would do precisely that. Rather than stitch together stock clips or product shots, we built an answer from the ground up: a conceptual3D smart-city of Malaysia, rendered entirely from scratch, where every district embodies a different Siemens capability and a single continuous camera move carries the viewer through all of it. The result is a 98-second film, titled around the idea of An Unstoppable Movement, that turns an abstract, sprawling business into one cohesive, recognisably Malaysian world.
VISIOLAB's scope covered the full pipeline: creative concepting, editorial scriptwriting, a 36-frame storyboard, original 3D world-building and animation, motion graphics, and final delivery for large-format playback. We worked in close coordination with Siemens Malaysia's marketing and communications team throughout.
Project Overview
Siemens Malaysia was closely engaged and visibly pleased throughout production, and happier still with the finished film. The piece now lives where it matters most: it screens at the Siemens Xcelerator Experience Center (SXEC) at The MET in Kuala Lumpur, and at Siemens' centre in Penang, the very spaces where Siemens invites its customers to explore its technologies first-hand.
Most tellingly, the video has become the CEO's opening move. Before presenting to first-time visitors, he plays the video to set the room, using VISIOLAB's 98 seconds to say, in one continuous breath, everything Siemens Malaysia is and does. For an explainer, there is no stronger validation than a leader choosing it to speak on the company's behalf.
The project also demonstrates what VISIOLAB brings to multinational and enterprise clients with broad, technical, hard-to-film stories: the ability to build a believable world from nothing and make complexity feel effortless.
